We've already done one false start today. I was going to talk about the Da Vinci Code because the movie is out today but then I realized nobody gives a crap about that. As Ed Schultz says "It isn't going to alter my faith any". It's kind of like a kid going to kindergarten for the first time and he wants the blanket he carried with him all the time when he was two. Let me explain my position on church origens like this. Today on Days of our Lives there was a guy named Patrick holding a gun on John Black, who had just "kidnapped" his wife. If you didn't know the background you might buy into anything her husband, Alex North might say, not realizing he was a very dangerous, manipulative, homicidal man and Patrick was his hired gun. If you ask me what I believe in my heart of hearts I believe the origen of the Catholic Church is bogus. They're all lying and one day it will be proved for all. Jesus himself said, "What you whisper in the darkness will be shouted from the roof tops". He also said that there isn't any secret hidden that will not be revealed.
Let me prove using simple examples why I don't think the Church was founded on the idea that Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead and floated off to heaven to "prepair a kingdom for us". Some might say "Do you doubt the people that say they saw him alive?" Seeing him alive does not prove he was ever dead. Seeing him alive does not prove he had a supernatural body and ascended to heaven at the right hand of the father, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I'm just guessing but I'd guess more people have reported seeing Elvis alive than seeing Jesus alive. How come we don't have a church of Elvis? The answer comes, "Because people who say they saw other people alive whom we know are dead- - must be nuts". How is it that "nutty" statements were OK in Jesus' day but not in ours? How about his "clenzing of the temple?" What would happen is someone tried that today saying he was doing it because of his father. He'd be arrested and/or locked up. People would also add that if there are statements of Jesus which are combative, like saying the Jews were children of the devil- - we have to realize that Jesus was God so that he could make any statement he wanted to and it would be true. I think you see that we have a problem with circular reasoning here. We ourselves are expected to be civil, controled and "not a mental case" in our daily lives. We can't go around saying we've talked to Elvis, but we don't mind if people in the first century went around saying they've seen Jesus. My point is that there must be some "other cause" that brought the church into existance, and my guess it has something to do with Egypt because it's in Egypt where the cross with the question mark ("Did Jesus really die on the cross?") and also the gospell of Judas appeared. Some may say it's blasphamus to say Judas was "following Jesus' orders" when he betrayed him. In the Bible itself it says Jesus gave Judas the bread soaked in shrimp sauce or whatever to Judas and then he told Judas, "What thou hast to do, do quickly". I didn't make that up, it's in the text. As I have said before it's also in the Bible "strike the shepherd that the sheep be scattered". There you go; the apostles deserted Jesus. I don't think most of them ever came back, but if they did they saw that Jesus wasn't immortal.
We are supposed to think of our faith as the "Pearl of Great Price". You see Jesus had enough heavenly currency to buy "the whole field" but he only wanted the treasure out of the field- not the whole field. That treasure is the "pearl of great price". So it's silly to say that when the wicked die they go to Satan who owns their soul. Because Satan does not own their souls; Jesus does. He just doesn't want them. They are not among the elect even though they have been "blood washed" and all that. Of course the pearl is what appears in an oyster when a pebble of sand gets lodged within the oyster and gets secretions from the oyster and grows. If you worship the oyster you worship something living. If you worship the pearl you worship something that is not supposed to even be part of the oyster but is an alien substance- - sand.
It was thirty four years ago that this writer attempted suicide using pills and red wine. It was later that night perhaps nine hours after the fact that my family wondered when I'd regain consciousness. They said, "I don't know. He still had a hundred and fifty percent of a lethal dose still in his blood stream". In other words, I should have been dead. Being dead I cal tell you I saw no angels or demons or visions of any kind. I've always wondered why I didn't. If Jesus saw any angels or demons he never told his desciples about it. I guess from my own experiance and hearing about experiances of others I know it's possible to have a brush with death. And if you're curious and this may hurt- - but alledgedly the doctors told my family in essence I had O D'd on religion. I was too much into weird religion that I had been around the previous year plus. What a stinging indictment of Christianity!
Well, I know I've double tracked over a few issues you've heard before but I thought it necessary to freshen your memory. I think Jesus had a double-identity and that he was Philo of Alexandria, in Egypt. I think Egypt is where Jesus was born and Egypt is where he died. Egypt received "the gospell" more readily than any one else, and two of our four gospells were written in Egypt. Maybe the line is true, "I once loved a woman- - a child I'm told". Did Jesus leave a wife and child? Some may say that would be irresponsable if he did. But to plan out your own death is something almost anyone would say is irreponsible. But then "If Jesus is God" it's OK to be "irresponsible", I guess, whether he had a wife and kid or not. It would be irresponsible for anyone to plan their own deaths. We have no rational way of knowing whether Jesus lived a perfect life or not because we know virtually nothing about him before the age of thirty. For some reason this doesn't bother anybody.
In other news they have just declaired English as the official language of the US. Personally I think this is rather racist. They've been meeting a lot in secret a lot in Congress. Some people believe the most important things are done in secret.
