A Clear But Not Yet Present Danger
I am sure a lot of us have had the following experiance. You're at the camp fire all nice and cozy and it's getting latter and suddenly all these flood lights come on that completely spoil the mood. It's the government's way of letting you know the beach closes at midnight, kind of like Cops sweeping the streets at midnight at Mardi Gras. Of course you start to thinking about the thin blue line that protects you not from the criminal but from government. If cops wanted to they could have cleared the streets any time they wanted to, and who would have stopped them? Who's to say you're actually guilty of something when a Policeman wants to kick in your door? Of course you know we have the internet now, and I marvle that it's as free as it is. In China it's less free but even they have their degree of freedom. You know that if government had designed it there would be all matter of restrictions of where you could go and what sites you could see, just like a teenager. And if you put the government's two cents worth of ideas there would be fees for everything, including how long you were on the internet. Of course they're already spying on what you look at. Supposed they changed the rules. They have rules against illegally removing copy protection from CD's. Suppose the government instituted rules about illegally removing cookies, so that they could track you. What if deleting them were declared an act of treason? What if it were REQUIRED that every person have a computer in his home so the government could keep tabs on you? In North Korea they have these blairing propaganda speakers all the time out in public. At home one imagines the radios blairing propaganda day and night so that you can't even sleep. In July of 1978 I was at this Christian (?) camp in Malibu canyon. What struck me about it is that there was alltogether too much pavement and they had these flood lights everywhere, even though they wern't turned on. And there was this tinny, blairing music coming out of the loud speakers making you aware of some omni-presence. I thought that "camps" were to get away from it all. John Lennon talked about this non retreat retreat when he wrote the words to "I'm So Tired". He found the life of "relaxation" and "meditation" with the Maharishi to be- - - exausting. Tiring. He couldn't get any shut-eye. I think this is the state that the government in its fondest wish would have for all of us that we are sleep deprived and hence suggestable. One of these days they aren't going to have actual elections where people go to the polls. They'll desguise the elections as just another phone survay, and they'll beguile you with a luring speech. The government will put sensors on the TV to track eye movements to see which political commercials you respond to best. And of course in the spirit of "Cracking the Code" the government will use buzz words. Words that contain a pleasent emotive meaning for their side and unpleasent terms for the enemy. It could be that the results of any election will be known in advance, like a Cardassian Court Trial on Startrek. Perhaps they will actually hold a lottery to see who gets to be the shill or opposing candidate that is pre planned for defeate. Once again perhaps the "loser" could even have charges of treason brought against him by the government should he "pull a fast one" and actually WIN the election. You know- - they could always have ten times the number of mental institutions they have now just for wearhousing dissenters. You'd see old ladies manhandled by these big burly attendants. A doctor regards his hypodermic needle as his security blanket the way a cop regards his gun. They have said that more cops commit suicide than ever get killed on the job by criminals. You might say that being a cop is a lot safer than a lot of jobs, like coal miner. There is this thin line called precident that protects all of us from law enforcement of various stripes running amuck and coming after us all. Mc Cain is against torture one day and then he's for torture in a vote in congress the next. In a soap opera scenario, if they wanted to make it hard on truckers and shippers they could have phoney "inspections" where shipments were held up and valuable business lost. You get one of these old time Big Political Machine majors like they had in the old days- - as President of the United States and you could really do something. People should go to bed at night thanking their lucky stars that by in large the FBI is a lot more honist than a lot of traditional big city police departments. They could pass a law against being without a cell phone the way it is to be without your drivers license. Power companies that cut off service for not paying your bill could even be charged with treason because they "broke the tether" of government on you. Think about it.
Coming soon to a blog site near you, "The Night Comes Down" a documented account of David Stanley and eighteen or so months that irrevocably changed his life for the worse in 1993 and 1994. It probably won't be our next blog but look for it some time. Did not Jesus say "Are there not twelve hours in a day?". Find out what he meant.
