World Outraged At Death Of Innocent Man

An innocent man, Troy Davis, was executed in Georgia last night. President Obama refused to speak out on this case before it happened, and he still hasn’t spoken out after the deed has been done. This is just another in the long train of craven cowardess that the President has shown over the years. It’s the oldest excuse in the book. That he is afraid of how the tea party might respond, as if any sane American cared what the tea party thinks about anything. Troy Davis is accused of killing two off duty Georgia cops involving some other person in a dispute over a bottle of beer. There is no DNA evidence linking him to the crime. The gun has never been produced. The case hung on the testimony of nine eye witnesses, many who were threatened by the cops that they, too would be thrown in jail is they did not cooperate. Seven of the Nine have recanted their testimony. Some of these confess to being illiterate and could not even read or understand the police statement they were signing. Troy Davis maintained his innocence right to the end. He was executed using lethal injection where they first give you some kind of narcotic, and then a drug to paralyze the muscles and a final drug to induce a heart attack. The procedure takes about fifteen or twenty minutes. Troy Davis was refused any chance to ever take a polygraph test. One of the two witnesses who have stuck with their story was a guy named Coles, who is a suspect in the case himself. The cop was shot with a .38 calabre and Coles used to own such a gun. The world is outraged at this execution and there are renewed calls for a world wide ban on capital punishment. Pope Benedict has spoken out on this case and so has former President Jimmy Carter. It will be interesting to see how the Republicans in the Florida debate tonight on FOX respond to this question, should it be posed. I think the usual refrain that “Well, we all know those kinds of people are guilty of something, anyhow”. There is strong evidence, of course, that Governor and presidential candidate Rick Perry executed an innocent man. His answer when posed the question was stealthful. He said “It went through all the proper channels”. Of course Perry fired key members of the board the day before they were to conclude that that man should not be executed. It would seem that we all should take pause and perhaps have a nation-wide moritorium on carrying out of the death penalty so we can investigate cases where there is doubt, particularly DNA doubt, where a lot of victims of justice have been cleared. Reuben Carter managed to get out of prison on a bad rap, but that's only because he lived long enough to successfully make an appeal. People like Rick Perry seek to prevent that with their nice little death mill going there in Texas. Apparently under Georgia law, if there is not "proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that the man in question is innocent" the process won't allow for a retrial, even in cases like this where the material evidence has changed.

This is Thursday September 22, 2011 and the republican debate is tonight with a new guy, Gary Johnson, who presumably has no connection with Dee. I don't know whether they are going to get rid of any of the other eight, like Santaurum or the pizza guy to make room for him. My guess is that Romney and Perry will resent the new guy crashing their little party. He is a maverick who believes that alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana and he has smoked marijuana. He believes government has a function. Oh, they’ll just eat him alive at the debate tonight. I remember when Bob Dole said “Government had a proper function of meeting the needs of the poor”. Judy never forgave him for saying that. How odd it was to hear Bob Dole regarded as “another liberal”. (1996) Right now Perry still leads in the polls. The more people hear this sort of republican discourse on the screen, they more they will accept what they say as being in the main stream. Once one candidate or the other actually "catches fire" and becomes the undisputed favorite, he will soar in his own polling position against the President in a head to head contest. Now these Republicans have a new guimick to insure a victory next year. In Pennsylvania they are apportioning the electoral vote according to congressional districts rather than the time honored "winner take all". What this means is that the Republicans could be leading in twelve districts and trailing in six, and so would win on the number of electoral votes even though a democrat may have won the popular vote of the entire state.

You know the tea party right who are practically dictating everything that happens in government now are looking for anything to pin on President Obama. They are going to blame the gay military on Obama. Indeed this is about the only crowning achievement he’s had in office. One charge I've been hearing is that small businessmen can't catch a break and now they want to put a moritorium on 845 new regulations for small businesses. Nobody wants to penalize hard work, and there are a lot of hoops for people just getting started to jump through, some of which seem nonsensical to the casual observer. Perhaps if the president were more specific on how he wants to help these people he would get their votes. Right now people with money are portrayed as victims of government beaurocracy by the media. Whereas the unemployed are portrayed by people like Newt Gingrich as lazy parasites who are sucking off the substance of government, and their laziness is part of the problem. Of course these right wingers claim to have “secret information” about “what’s really in all these bills they’ve been ramming through congress” involving hidden taxes and new regulations. They have this sources like WND that reveal things nobody else knows about because the media is conspiring not to tell us. Obama’s goal is to “punish the achievements of the Job Creators”. He’ll get blamed for today’s stock market drop. Just as a reality check we are still above ten thousand. The market isn’t “crashing”. And by the way, I am sticking by my "buy" signal. I'd tell you if it were otherwise. Some will even blame labor unions for the inability of the American worker to compete with his foreign counter parts. Of course a statement was made to me yesterday that pretty much nailed it down that I am not somewhat justified for my failure to participate in any Christian church; I am completely justified. These people think they are leading you into a verbal trap but in reality they are only tricking and “branding” themselves. The whole country has gone insane. Now people are actually advising mortgage holders to just “walk away” from their properties, and them explain, “besides, it’s only what the lender banks themselves are doing”. These fat cat bankers who produce nothing but only live off of other people's money ought to be just a little humble and grateful that Presidents Bush and Obama bailed them out or they wouldn't even be around to complain now. It's funny how the Joe Q Citizen tea party member imputes only the most positive of virtues to Wall Street. And if Wall Street only goes up 35% in two & a half years they are somehow "being robbed" because they are entitled to more. And now they "want a President they can count on". Now they are saying that Warren Buffet has a financial interest in keeping taxes high. Rush Limbaugh yesterday referred to himself as a “lone wolf” in advocating for the rich. The tea party is basically a cult and like any other cult, the adherents to it get snookered and they think that vicariously watching the rich and privileged enjoy themselves, somehow it makes their lives better. They are told what to believe about everything and are spoon fed every cliché phrase they learn, and somehow this makes these people feel “all right” about themselves. “After all we all have to unite against them, whoever “them” is”.

They are doing a massive spring cleaning in the fall on “Days of our Lives”. They are getting rid of Dario, and Melanie, and Nicholas, and Vivian, and just possibly Carley. And Taylor and Quinn are also making an exit. The past 24 hours they have been madly in love dispite being almost total strangers a week ago. And Quinn has promised to quit pimping. Meanwhile there are indications they are going to bring back John and Marlena, both who have to be in their sixties now and no longer that young couple who fell in love as a by-product of Stephano’s emotional manipulation. It would be an interesting conversation between Marlena and daughter Samantha. “So let me get this straight. You and EJ had impulsive sympathy sex and you got pregnant and then EJ married Nicole, and then you were involved in a situation where your life was threatened and you went into a witness protection program and met Raphael, whom you later married. And then you had your baby but Nicole switched babies and the baby you thought was yours died, and you mourned for her. And then EJ arranged the kidnapping of your real baby by Anna Di Mira. And after that you shot EJ at point blank range and he survived and said he would not turn you in if you followed certain blackmail demands. And Gabriel, a witness who would be able to finger you for the crime, ends up dead. Then your little boy loses one eye to cancer and almost loses another. Somewhere along the way you actually managed to marry Raphael Hernandez. But then he gets involved in a car crash and is hospitalized in critical condition while chasing you for some reason. And then your husband was substituted with another man who drove your kids away and Alley was sent to Hong Kong and hasn’t returned. But other than all that nothing much has happened in your life since I’ve been gone”. That strains the limits of credulity.
