If President Obama Really Wants to Win in November
For all the talk that Mitt Romney is an unsuitable candidate for the Republicans to put up in November, even the tea party members themselves will concede that he is the best man to pitch the conservative or at least anti Obama positions that so many in the nation's heartland hold. Even the evangelical set will go for Romney as a man of "Basic Christian Values". But the major thing is that in a head to head contest between Willard Romney and the President it's a 47% to 47% tie. Many are wondering whether this balance will tilt in the Republicans' favor should gasoline prices rise even higher and particularly if it impacts the current favorable economic growth numbers. It may be that the President has to run against a phantom of himself that doesn't exist in reality. However the Romney line of "I've actually had a job and been successful in the private market" is a line that's selling well now. "Community Organizers" are not seen as who we need to guide this economy out of its doldrems. But the President can still win if he eliminates one besetting issue and "compromises" on one of his own Pet projects whose vision the people of America do not share. This is the whole issue of socialized health care. And this is just how Romney will play it. There are roomers of new taxes scheduled to go into effect next year that the Republicans say will "hurt business and job creation. So what the President needs to do is ask for TV time for a major Presidential announcement and announce that he's scrapping the whole idea of mandentory signing up for an insurance company on a "Government approved exchange". He can tell the people that he's listened to them and heard their voice, and concluded that just as America should not be asked to support a foreign war that they do not agree with, they should not be asked to support a domestic "war" of sorts, the premises of which they do not agree. He can say "I exceded my perogatives as president and violated the rights of Church in attempting to mandate what sort of health care they should provide. The last thing I wish to be known for as President is to have been the one who trod under the First Amendment. Besides all this the Supreme Court has yet to rule on the Constitutionality of the Health Care Statute as enacted in 2010. It would be foolish to have an adverse court ruling in the middle of a massive transformation of the Health Care industry that might not even be constitutional. I shall therefore issue an executive order canceling any further execution of these provision of the Health Care Statute.
There is a video out now I tried to find but didn't get the right one where the President's actions as far as the killing of Bin Laden are concerned. Joe Byden stressed that the President has a tough choice to make and he had to make it Alone. The joint chiefs of staff were divided on what the President should do. Many said success of this mission was a 55% to 45%. This is the type of decisions people elect a President for. Four years you didn't know his President because he was an untried comodity but you trusted your instinct and voted for him anyhow, and this President did not let you down. He brought home the troops from Iraq and has kept the world safe from any further 9 - 11 attacks. At the same time this President has stepped up border patrols to go after illegal aliens even more agressively than the Bush administration did. This President has continued the security conscious Bush and Chaney administration policies on almost all areas involving your National Security, except that we no longer engage in torturing of US prisoners as our predecessors did.
But the biggest reason why we should elect this president over Gingrich or Romney is that either one of those candidates would crash the economy. They would slash capital gains taxes which would invite a rash of sales of those investing in America when we want to achieve exactly the opposite. This would result in a cascade of US capital leaving the country and would most likely crash the markets so that would see a grim replay of the horrible stock market conditions seen in the closing months of the Bush Administration. This President, i would remind you worked closely with the Bush Administration in guiding the economy through those perilous times at the dawn of this administration. On inoguration day of 2009 many people had abandoned hope. This is now Hope we are slowly and surely in the process of regaining. Don't allow any abrupt and untried changes by the Romney administration to upset things. If you are on a crowded Freeway if one driver slams on the brakes because he thinks he sees something that wasn't even there and causes a chain reaction pile-up, so a massive cut in the Federal Reserve funding would cause an economic chain reaction and crack-up. You don't hand the car keys back to the drunk who almost drove drove the car over the cliff to begin with. A 40% cut in Federal Government Spending, which these people openly advocate, would wreak havoc on not only the economy as a whole, but on the individual lives of countless Americans. We have guided this ship of the economy without causing a round of new inflation, which according to countless nay-sayers on the right say we should already be experiancing, but we're not. Don't run away from a phantom that isn't there.
As to energy there are countless forms of energy we've only scratched the surface of. You know about photo electric solar cells. Recently the price has cone down on these so that for the first time they have become commercial viable. This trend will continue. In many areas of west Texas they are already using wind generated electric power extensively. Tidal power by which the advancing and receding ocean tides power electric turbines, is a potential we've barely scratched the surface of. In addition to these there are promising areas in geo thermal and Hydrogen cold fusion and also dio-disel. Only an ostrage would hid his head in the sand and not admit that time marches on and forms of energy that were suitable for the nineteenth century are considerably less suitable in the 21st. Just as horse drawn carriage became much less popular after the advent of the automobile. Besides the natural march of time, the more immediate reasons for pulling away from petroleum energy sources is the specter of global warming. I don't need to remind you of the warm winters most of you have enjoyed this year. Such balmy climate doesn't come without a price in terms of decreased snow packs causing water droughts particularly in the West. We can't be known as the only nation in the world that is NOT seeking to develope all these other alternative forms of energy Nobody is suggesting that we make the transformation overnight. But the danger of the Republican position is the necessity of doing it At All. They would imagine that we stop the clock, or turn back to a time before the whole world reached peak oil production nearly a decade ago. They are appealing to a reality that can no longer be. Once we deal with all these reality, we can move forward as Americans.
Note on the last track we've dropped the last few verses and added one that I don't believe was there before. On the verses dropped they refer to people who are dead now, and much younger then, and the humor of these two verses might be lost on the average listener of today, anyhow.
