What A Disaster!

Mitt Romney did NOT have a melt-down.  Mitt Romney did not have any major gaffs.  In fact Mitt Romney just may have won the first debate and the best thing that could happen from our point of view is for people to forget about this debate as soon as possible.  Mitt Romney finally made that long awaited move to the center, trying to be as much in agreement with the President as possible, perhaps due to pressure from his advisors.  The one silver lining if there is one is that tea baggers liike Paul and Judy are probably pulling their hair out, because Romney strove as hard as he could to put as much distance between himself and the tea party as he could.  Nevertheless Rush Limbaugh will probably crowing like a Rooster who just won the Irish Sweepstakes tomorrow.  Jim Lerrer moderated the debate and this one was  - - different.  It was free form and free wheeling with Jim Lerrer almost lost for words at some point.  But he wanted the American people to see a clear comparrison between the two candidates and this much was accomplished.  Now let's get to the specifics.  President Obama appeared nervous at the beginning.  The right words were there but he appeared to be reading from a script.  Mitt Romney started off weak but got better throughout the course of this debate.  Mitt Romney by far gave the better Closing Speech.  The best thing we could learn was that the American people got bored and tuned out after twenty minutes or so, missing Romney's best stuff.  We can hope so anyhow.  President Obama made one major Mistake I would never have made.  How I wish the President had had a pinch hitter up there like Randy Rhodes, or Stephanie Miller - - - or Myself.  I wouldn't leave so much low lying fruit just hanging.  Allow me to enumerate these.  First was the uncontested statement that Obama Care will cost jobs, and that surveys show people will be far less inclined to hire should Obama Care be in effect.  Mitt Romney distinguished his Massachusetts role saying that he did not have the Government beaurocratic pannels that Obama's plan had.  Romney accused the President of cutting 716 Billion from Medicare and hospitals say they won't accept medicare any more should these massive cuts occur.  They affect direct funding to hospitals who are economicly impacted and make decisions accordingly.  This refutes the words of people like Stephanie Miller, who claim it's all beaurocratic fat that's being trimmed.  On the matter of Energy left hanging and uncontested was Mitt Romney's claim that the President cut government Energy leases.  And that if Mitt Romney were elected President he would double them, presumably from the Bush years.  Energy was a little discussed topic and the global warming and pollution cards were never played by the President.  The news media is calling this a "big night for Romney".  That is bad news.  Romney also said that will NOT be able to keep your insurance under Obama Care and this statement went uncontested.  The President scored a small point on the notion of sending Medi-Cal back to the states increasing burdens on the States.  Mitt Romney near the beginning was a bit "Daft" when it came to the idea of his tax plan causing deficets.  Mitt Romney said that there ARE no tax laws on the books encouraging corporations to relocate off shore in another country.  This statement went uncontested.  But most importantly Obama dropped the ball on the reason for the necessity of hiking many taxes.  I'll answer the question for him.  Taxes are like if I were to get blood pressure medication to lower my blood pressure from 170 over a hundred to something a little more "livable".  I might have some side effects, but these are a necessary evil of the medication and perhaps they can be tweaked later.  Also the idea of jobs originating FROM taxes being cut.  No.  Jobs come from customers with money to spend creating the necessity of expanding the business.  Clearly you want to make reinvestment of income capital tax deductable.  This is the solution, but I didn't hear it.  Also the Laffer Curve has been totally discredited.  Mitt Romney said "Raising taxes NEVER increases revenue".  This is a Lie from Romney but one that went Uncontested.  Tax cuts failed to lower the deficets under Johnson, Reagan, and Bush. Tax HIKES did cut the deficet under Clinton.  This wasn't stressed enough.  As to putting money in customers' hands, the Federal Reserve is handeling that problem, and a President Mitt Romney will benefit from that action of the Fed Chairman, once in office.

This morning Rush Limbaugh had a melt-down on the idea of so called "race baiting" and "buzz words" and "rabel rousing" as far as Obama's June 5th 2007 speech in a church.  Rush hated the idea that he was still speaking fondly of the Reverand Jeremiah Wright, who by the way is a Vetteran, while most tea baggers are not.  It's a very good speech and I urge all President Obama fans to track it down on You Tube and watch it, and it runs nearly forty minutes in full length.  Rush Limbaugh's racial charges are completely unfounded.  Perhaps I should have included the speech in a link.  The transcript would be too long.  I only wish the President had performed as well tonight as he did in that speech.

The middle class in Mexico has grown from 12 percent to 56 percent.  And they shop at Wall Mart and buy the same American foods we do.  They particularly like American made baby wipes because they are made a lot better than their Mexican counter-parts.  It's great to see another country prosper, and it's great to see Pat Buchannon in reverse going on.  We see the whole of Mexico becoming Americanized.  There is a rising middle class in other countries such as China, Brazil and India, and world wide this is a healthy thing.

Edmond Starr said "War can't give life- - it can only take it away".  One might say the same thing of Religion, "Religion can't give life- - but you could be tried and sentensed to burn at the stake".  Religion can't give Liberty; it can only take it away.  What the New Testament promotes is not Liberty but as John Kennedy might say "Replacing colonialism with a far more Iron tyrany", that of Rome and the Church.  The President invoked God and Jesus in his June 2007 speech.  That's like putting lipstick on a pig.  I guess even a pig looks cuter if it's dolled up a little.  But we don't get things like Liberty and Equality from God.  These things have in my system an A Prior existance.  Which means they exist Ontologically on their own as independant entities.  I think once people come to realize this, they will come to view Atheism a whole lot differently.
