President Assad has more cause than usual not to sleep too well tonight because a surprise bomb planted by a personal body guard killed three of Assad's high ranking subordinates Many are speculating that it's an inside job. If they are right it will mean Assad is in more trouble than he thinks. If Syria is taken out, Iran will lose his only principal allay. UN officials officially declared the conflict as a Civil War, which means that war crimes can be more easily prosecuted than before, or so I'm told. The Obama administration called the situation in Syria intollerable. One can hope that it's the beginning of the end for Assad. People who have suffered a powerful blow such as this tend to slip into panic mode where they don't think out their subsequent decisions and are prone to mistakes. If Assad falls one would hope it would be another feather in President Obama's cap.
The drought in most of the United States is getting nothing but worse. In Indianapolis they have outlawed washing your car or watering your lawn, at any hour. Cracks in the ground at golf courses are getting so big that golf balls get stuck in them. And this is in areas that are usually water hazzards and wetlands. The Mississippi River itself is some seventeen feet below normal and barges around Memphis have to lighten their loads to keep from running aground. Islands have appeared out of nowhere in the river. The weather department offers up no hope for relief, but from everything I hear the prognosis only gets bleaker with each passing day. In major US cities temperatures continue to hang over a hundred degrees for days. It's like that Captain Piccard episode where he is on this ancient planet and does soil samples for a living and each lab result is only more dire than the one before.
Randy Rhodes spoke of people working on false premises, or "Garbage in - garbage out". This is very true. People from the tea party and pastors of Church use the false premis as their favorite weapon of choice. Pastors will say "God loves you and therefore if you don't love him back in the same way, you deserve to burn in hell for eternity". Many people are cowed by cliche lines. How many times have you heard the expression, perhaps between your children "I'm gona get even with him" and you tell this child that getting Even is a bad thing. OK Fine. Then what you are saying is that this sibbling should constantly think of himself as Superior to the other sibbling with never any reconciliation or closure. And many like the President have had the false idea that not defending yourself is fine because it worked for Ghandi and therefore it will work for him. Ghandi had a progressive British Media on his side to report everything that happened. But in Obama's case the Media itself is run by the tea party so there is no official to appeal to for fairness. People talk about the "Lesson of the Gospells" being what bad people the Jews are because they rejected the Son of God. I think there IS an alligorical "Lesson" in the gospell but it's not what people think. Here it is. How many times have you been told "Just do everything right and get rid of all your bad habbits and check off your karma list or whatever like Earl in that series, and by the end of the day you can relax and feel confident you've been an obediant child of God. But little do you know that God isn't as BIG as you THOUGHT he was, and even "God" is subject to - shall we say- - the political pressures and cares of this world and shifting political and military tides. How many times have you heard "History is written by the Victors and not the Vanquished". In this view of history, moral justification does not enter into the picture. So all of that "being good" is for naught because now that very submission to authority and fidelity to the Laws of your religion- - are a source of indictment against you brought by your Enemies. Now they have "reasoned outside the box" and have come up with a way to Justify their own fowl deeds no matter how devoted to your "Faith" you thought you were. (Jews, meditate hard in these truths)
I was sent a thing by Pete Richards of "What would the Devil wish for America". It was a 1965 radio talk of Paul Harvey. About the ONLY thing I agree on with the whole list is establishing of State and local Lotteries to take money from the poor. I would suggest that the Devil would feed the egoes of the Rich and make them want even more and be all the greedier and push to pass laws that are increasingly oppressive to the poor in every conceivable manner. I as the Devil would want my people to say something only if it were either a lie, or hypocritical, or else blame shifting, or some sort of tempting beguilement. I would expect a survent of mine in the military to have the following traits. I would want him to be a self obsessed snob who looks down on everybody and makes racial slurrs about the stupidity of other races. I would want him to constantly demend perks and make not one statement expressing concern for either my Country or the progress of the war. Later on I would expect him to play off his children against each other and do everything I could to encourage the agressive bully to hassass the more miek of my children and send him little clues I want him to keep up for his behavior. As a parent I would never apologise for anything. I would discourage any of my kids coming to me with a problem. If a kid were honist about a weakness I would "punish him" for his truthfulness and explode in a peroxis of accusations and let my imagination run wild. Though I favored some kids over others constantly- - I would see to it that even the kids I favored despised me in the end. If I were in the Churches I would only offer meracles or any sort to the LEAST dserving and see to it they made total asses of themselves and that everybody hated them- - particularly those outside the church. I would make sure the ones I blessed the most in this way- - come to merit the hottest places in hell. If I were the President my greatest joy would be a candidate who is secretive and hides his finances and other faults and who has a real contempt for anyone who does something actually productive for a living. Everything out of his mouth would be a lie. I would as with the church case take a nobody whom everybody who knew him hated to begin with and I would elevate him and feed his ego and tell him he was great bordering on Perfect. I would desire that he had no remorse or shame about any of his faults. I would want him to talk about Jesus a lot. I would like my Pastors to compare themselves to Jesus and is possible say they WERE Jesus Christ himself. Anything I could do to get people to hate Jesus Christ as a man and historical figure I would endeavor to accomplish. I would constantly make appeals to secret doctrines of the Church and cast aspursion that only the priveleged get to be in my "Inner Circle". And above all I would institute a climate of fear in whatever I did for perfect Fear casts out all Love, and Love and Courage and Integrety are the things I most despize. If I had my way there would be shortages of everything among the common people and I would do everything I could to foster petty greeds and fan them into a major confligration..
