Why Romney Won't Release His Taxes

First of all it's no wonder Romney has gone back to playing the race card and the "Not An American" card because he can't release his taxes particularly for 2009.  But as an illustration of how "out of touch" some - - - White- - people are is the way they don't know what's most important to Black people.  For instance in the Kennedy - Nixon campaign, candidate Nixon promised that if elected he would put a "Neegrow" in his Cabinet.  Kennedy saw that Martin Luther King was in prison in Atlanta in 1960 and intervened to have him released, knowing the short life expectency of Black men in a southern jail.  People say that Romney got out of Bain capital in 2002 or 1999 or whatever, but sources say he is still drawing an income from Bane Capital.  There are a couple of hundred workers in Freeport Illinois- employed what used to be Texas Instruments, a good American company.  I remember people speaking favoribly of Texas Instruments as makers of good calculators and other things in 1975 at Golden West.  These people are becomming unemployed because of another of these "Ventures" of Bane Capital, and one word from Mitt Romney even now would save their jobs because he still has a LOT of pull with the people at Bain.  However he had a campaign bus tour that was scheduled to go within a few miles of Freeport, Illinois but there were people waiting with signs there at the turn-off in protest.  So Mitt Romney takes a plane and flies over that whole part of the bus tour so he won't have to face them.  It was shades of President Bush regarding Hurricane Katrina as "flyover country".  He had a chance to make a difference and not doing so reveals something about his character.  The thing that his 2009 income taxes will reveal is that Mitt Romney was able to jiggle the number with "paper losses" when in fact like so many other Wall Street crooks made out like a bandit in the crash of 2008 - 2009.  John Mc Cain would have not seen this in the tax returns he saw because it hadn't happened yet.  Romney as much as admits he's not releasing more tax statements because the Other Side will only use it as ammunition.  That about says it all.  In my mind I as a "juror" have every right to draw an "adverse inference" from someone not stepping up to the plate.  Of course Mitt lived a pampered life getting a rare Religious draft deferment- - to do missionary work in France, to make good Mormons out of the French.  Romney went to Brigham Young.  And this is of course back before the church decided that Black people did NOT have the "Mark of Cain".  Clearly he was involved in privileged, elite employment opportunities most of us never get.  And as to Romney's other deeds those Olympic Uniforms were manufactured in Burma, which has even more slave-like standards than China does. And of course his great "achievement" was to get a Government bail-out.  Nobody is going to vote FOR Romney.  They are voting AGAINST President Obama for a whole, diverse and yet related set of reasons, almost 100% of them being based in ignorance and prejudice.

Here is another letter that was forwarded to me yesterday.  Some things that have flagged my alarmed attention was the following paragraph Pete Richards wrote to you.  Other paragraphs involved topics like "losing our constitutional rights" and homosexual marriages.  I'd call it "mentally unballanced" if I didn't know better.  Let's break it down now.  The red type is my response, and as you can see there is so much ignorance packed into every sentense it takes a while to unwravle it.
Remember what happened in Germany when they had financial problems and had to pay back nations.
Reaponse:  Glen Beck has been saying the US would go the way of the Wymar Republican with tripple digit inflation due to our federal reserve policy.  This did not happen.  EVEN a little.  They said our credit rating was being downgraded.  People like Rush Limbaugh took almost extatic delight in this prospect.  Actually interest rates and bond yields wend DOWN during this crisis, and not up.  "The market" disagrees with the tea party.  They were putting their money INTO US bonds, not taking them out.  There is not a shadow of a chance of China pulling any of our loans.

They thought the Jews were rich and weren’t paying their fair share. So Hitler persuaded the people to turn against them and how many were killed? And why? Because they were rich?

This is such a pathological sick couple of statements it turns my stomach.  This line of thinking portrays multi billionairs and the new Landed Gentry we fought to escape in the Revolutionary war- - now they are being portrayed as "victims" of those presumably Nazi sympathizing Wall Street occupy protestors, who must be the new brown shirts or something.  The filty rich have had no better friend in the White House than this President.  They have never don't better.  They aren't being bled dry like a turnup.  And nobody is vaguely suggesting they be denied any of their civil rights.

Or because they didn’t have the right hair color?? (Sound Familiar?) Why would you say you preferred a socialist society? It’s been tried before, Tim.

First of all it's an insult to Jews everywhere for everyone and his dog to envoke their name and memory for every political cause out there.  If I were a Jew I'd be so SICK of this I couldn't imagine.  But in the second place Naziism is not socialism it's Fascism.  Socialism was tried and Works better than our system in a lot of countries and the people by actual surveys are happier.  But just where- - by what stretch of the Imagination has this President done ANYTHING vaguely socialist.  This health care package was one sponsored by the Heritage Foundation back in the nineties and championed by Mitt Romney less than ten years ago.  Trying to say ANY of this to Paul is like talking to a brick wall, and I wouldn't attempt it.

Bonus Paragraph  The only thing that secures our freedoms here is our constitution that was framed by people who believed that there were certain unalienable rights that come from God and that it was the government’s job to protect those rights. Once we give up on that premise, then the government becomes as God and will ultimately become dictatorial and have to control everything. Why would you want that?  Our form of government has lasted a long time and has worked pretty well – so why follow the pattern of other countries who have failed miserably?

They had Steve Jobs on Sixty Minutes.  It was a rerun of that Biography book this critical author came out with saying what an egotistical jerk Steve Jobs was, just like Mittens Romney.  In the early days he fancied himself a hippy so never bathed and they made him work the night shift, and Steve would never admit he had a problem.  Steve lived in an "alternate reality" his whole life believing he was "special".   And people would beg for stock options who had worked tirelessly with him when the Apple II computer made him millions but Steve would refuse.  Even though he was adopted and the product of an illicit sexual union, he himself denied his own child when a girlfriend got pregnant.  One guy described it as “Steve’s alternate reality”.  They had how he pushed and pushed people to get out code for the Mackentosh and they told him it was an impossible deadline.  Steve Wazniac gave stock options to all his friends.  He did all the real work, like actually writing the code for the programs.  It was Wazniac who invented GUI back in the mid seventies.  In the way of Cosmic gossip there is a roomer afoot in the past few days that Steve Jobs is now on Andromeda D.  "Oh well, it's a pretty big planet, besides- the more the merrier- - right".  (note the context of this quote)

In other news, the Boy Scouts organization still doesn't want gays in it.  Now the California legislature is trying to pass a law that says a dependent Child can have more than two parents legally.  He can have, three or four, perhaps even five.  Of course this raises issues like who will take the children as tax deductions because you'll know the Federal Government will have none of this nonsense with more than two parents.  There are issues of health and who has the right to authroize surgery, or even things such establishing which school district the child will attend.  This is someone's crazy pipe dream apparently with the goal that at least "somebody" will be willing to support this child.

We all tend to ask the question whether the election of a particular candidate will affect our own lives for the better or adversely.  I'm glad that President Obama's political Ads are working but he heeds to keep up the pressure and not relent.  Romney is on the ropes with this income tax issue.  I'm a little surprised how all these other Republicans and their voters who couldn't stand Romney in the primaries are now closing ranks tightly in support of him.  Their man, Romney can do no wrong.  They are no longer troubled by his tax returns, or vulture capitalism, or wall street manipulation (failure to comdemn it like Michelle Bachman and Rick Perry did),  as well as his Mormonism, escaping the draft, or just his over-all detached and out of touch personality.  They aren't worried about either Romney Care or his dismal job creation as Governor of Massachusetts, or his flip flops on such issues as gays, and global warming, or abortion.  Suddenly purchassing Stericycle, a firm that disposes of aborted fetuses, or that Romney specifically sought out companies specializing in out-sourcing.  If you're looking for a Dr. Levy update- - tomorrow will make six weeks that we haven't met as a class.  My records, hopefully, are still over at his house.  There was all this stuff he was planning as soon as he got back from his Italy vacation that involved us.  Money for me is really tight.
